The Story Behind Jean Isabella
The name Jean Isabella is more than a pen name; it’s a legacy and a dream.
Jean was my mother’s name. She was a woman who adored romance and believed in epic love, but never quite got to experience the kind she deserved. After she passed in January 2024, I picked up a pen to honor her—by writing the consuming, passionate, heartfelt stories she would have loved to get lost in.
Isabella represents the dream. It’s a name tied to elegance, strength, and possibility. It’s a nod to the women in my stories who are forces in their own right, and to the power that lives inside every woman, waiting to be unleashed.
Like a lot of women, I wear many hats: mom, wife, daughter, and corporate professional with nearly two decades in the insurance world. My life is full of love and responsibility, but I’ve always had an inner world that needed a voice. Writing is that voice.
It started with a vivid dream I couldn’t shake one morning. I wrote it down “just to get it out,” and the pen hasn’t stopped since. That spark became my debut novel, Vulnerable Dominant.
Now I write steamy Black love romances with vulnerable dominant heroes, strong, guarded heroines, and relationships built on consent, trust, and emotional honesty. My stories live where the heart and the heat collide—where surrender is a choice and love hits just as hard as desire.
Thank you for being here and for stepping into these worlds with me.
